So here it is, my secret:
I want to conquer my diabetes.
It's simple. I know - and it is the REASON for some of my other goals (clean eating, exercise...). It is hard to admit that is the heart of it, because what if I do these things and my blood sugars are still not controlled? What if I lose 50 pounds and am still diabetic?
Well, if I lose 50 pounds and I am still struggling with diabetes, there is good news. That's right! I will have lost 50 pounds, have more energy, look and feel healthier, and keep up with my kids better! Now I'm not saying that my goal is to lose 50 pounds this year, I picked that number arbitrarily (but it would be a fantastic goal for the year). I just want to live healthy and look healthy. No, not true - I want to BE healthy this year.
Here's to a healthy year.
Thanks for being so open with your goals. Nothing to be ashamed of. And 50lbs is very attainable for the whole year. In 2011 I lost 70lbs and have kept it off. It's not easy but if you keep your eyes on your goals and not allow excuses to get in your way, you can do anything!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the encouragement Erica!
ReplyDeleteFirst let me say I am in awe of you. I am currently at 249 and have had 3 kids. Each pregnancy has been with me on insulin shots do to gestational diabetes. I have not developed type 2 yet and am just about guaranteed I will if I dont lose weight and fast. I have even been told if I do I still might get it, I hang my head in shame. But your right.... lose the weight and get healthy then even if I still get type 2 I will be in better shape to handle it. Thank you for this post!
