Beautifying the Camp with Birdfeeders! (sponsored post)

** This is a sponsored post.  I was given a product or products in exchange for review.  All opinions are my own.**
It is spring at Yellow Creek Lake Camp, where I work.  Come to think of it, it's quite possibly spring wherever you are.  One of my favorite things to do in the spring is watch the birds.  For this reason, I love having a good relationship with Perky Pets!

I currently have 6 bird feeders hanging around campus.  Yes, I know that may seem a bit excessive, but I want other people to enjoy the beautiful birds that we have visiting us every day!

This is one of my favorites, it sits on the lake side of the cottage we stay in while I work.  As you can see, it is in need of a refill.  I love the look of this feeder, and the fact that it holds a LARGE amount of seed!  It's called the Squirrel Be Gone II Country Style Wild Bird Feeder.  Pictured above is a Finch Feeder from Perky Pet.  My boys really enjoy identifying "Mr. and Mrs. Finch" that often visit us (we have at least 2 ladies) and now we appear to have a pair of Pine Siskin visiting this feeder!

Our featured feeder today is this fantastic hummingbird feeder.  I am really pleased with the design of this particular feeder.  I've had a couple of other hummingbird feeders in the past, and this beats them all hands down!  Now - to see some hummingbirds would be fantastic!

This is the Perky Pet Funnel Fill 16oz. Glass Hummingbird Feeder.  It sells for just under $13 on the birdfeeders.com website.   It is incredibly easy to use!

This is the bottom of the feeder.  There is a stopper that unscrews to allow easy pouring, the hole is funnel-like and mess free!  Once filled, you screw the camp back on and quickly turn the feeder over.  That's it!

I really adore the site of this feeder outside my window!  The only improvement I might make on it (if I were the designer) would be to include some type of rope or thread for hanging it.  We were fortunate to find a good thin rope in the cottage that holds it up quite nicely.

Overall, I give this a 5 star rating for quality, price, innovation and functionality!  Great job on this feeder Perky Pets!

Happy Birds, Sad Squirrels #PerkyPets

We love nature.  It is so rewarding to watch my boys get excited about nature.  Would you believe that they still get excited every time we get a new bird feeder?  They like to help fill them and peek over the back of the couch to watch the birds that visit.  Manasseh even got binoculars for Christmas that will help him watch birds when we spend time together in the woods!
Our newest friend to birds
Last week we got the "Squirrel Slammer Wild Bird Feeder" from Perky Pets!  It has a 3.5 pound capacity for bird seed!  I love the size because it means I don't have to refill it every week in the winter.  I also love that it makes the birds happy and the squirrels sad.  Don't get me wrong, I like squirrels too - but it's kind of annoying when they steal our bird seed.

See the plastic shield?  I am beginning to put pressure on the seed area to close the ports here.
This feeder has a plastic shield above the ports that keeps rainwater out while allowing birds plenty of space for perching while they grab a bite.

The buffet is closed, sad squirrels!
When a larger animal tries to take seeds, they pull a shield over the feeding ports, disabling them from reaching fresh seeds.  I love the simplicity of the design!

Connecting Generations

Connecting Generations

I have always loved my family.  I love knowing about my cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents - second cousins, great aunts... and the list goes on.

I wrote the other day about my desire for my children to be connected with their family in the same way I was with mine as I grew up.  One thing that really has helped us to begin connecting is caring for creation.  Perky Pets bird feeders and waterers have been great for learning to care for nature.  We are very pleased with our waterer!  The boys love watching the birds come to the feeder, and since this has been such a dry year, the water has helped our bird friends immensely!

This cute waterer is less than $11 and holds 1.5 quarts of water.  As birds are leaving our area, this jug seems to last for a long time before it needs to be refilled.  As with other Perky Pet products, it is excellent quality that will last to share for years to come!

Fun with Birdfeeders

We love watching birds!  At the cottage where we have been staying for the summer, there is a large window.  Outside the window we have a hummingbird feeder designed by a 3 year old.  It's so much fun to watch the hummingbirds come and enjoy our little snack.  Manasseh is very proud of his meticulously designed feeder.

At first, I was not overly fond of the color combination or the shape of the flowers.  He was insistent that this is what he wanted.  So, we ordered it.  When it arrived, it was perfect.  He was super excited.  You know what?  It has grown on me (although I still like purple flowers).

Perky Pet offers a variety of choices in their Design Your Own Feeder.  They have several colors, and styles to choose from for each component of the feeder!  The best part?  It's only around $11 for this fun feeder.

Thank you Perky Pet for the opportunity to design our own feeder.  We love having it outside our big window!

Check out their choices.  What would your feeder look like?
