First day of "school"

Monkey was SUPER excited today to have his first day of "school".  It was his first day of speech therapy with the Fort Wayne School's therapist.  He was sorely disappointed that he did not get to ride the bus.

Crackers would not leave the front porch until he got to take part in the photo session as well.

The next step

WOOHOO!!!
If you've followed my blog very long, you may know that Monkey, my almost 3 year old, has a speech delay.  He has tons of words, he's just VERY hard to understand because he's missing a lot of letter sounds.  He does speech therapy and is gradually improving in his ability to express himself - and also in his intelligibility.

So today as he was getting ready for nap, Monkey was looking at a picture of Daddy and Crackers.  In the picture daddy his kind of leaning with his hand around his ear.

Monkey loves to look at this picture of daddy.  Instead of just naming people today, he started telling me about what he thought was happening in the story.  That's right, his speech has developed from simple words to express needs, to telling us about what has happened in his day, to telling stories - "daddy say ow, my ear".  "daddy, hurt ear"  (that's not at all what was happening in reality, but he's learning to look at something and interpret it and express what he sees)... I think that's an awesome and huge step.

Way to go Monkey!
