Take the Flat Diaper Challenge

Have you heard any of these stories about families that can't afford diapers and don't know they could get cloth diapers for less than disposables?  Some of these sad stories include families who have been air-drying disposable diapers and reusing them... causing severe infections... Some families keep diapers on their babies until the absolutely can't hold any more.. and maybe just a little bit longer - because they don't know any other options.

Dirty Diaper Laundry has shared a challenge, especially with the blogging, cloth-diaper-using community.  She's challenging people to try "flats" for one week, May 23-30 and ONLY handwash them.  I think this is a beautiful challenge for cloth diaper users.  Why?

1) It helps us be aware of the difficulties that many families are having.
2) It gives us a great way to "test" new diapering styles and share them with others.
3) Flats are highly economical!
4) I'm sure there are plenty of other reasons.. but it's time for me to join my family for dinner.. can you list some more great reasons to join?

  1. Anything is worth trying! I didn't really coupon when my kids were in diapers, but you can literally get diapers free at times. I always feel bad for the people who can't afford diapers while middle class, coupon-educated people are getting them free or next to free at times.
Let us know how the flat diaper works!
